      • Position: Legal Claims Consultant
      • Location: Downtown Toronto (near Union Station) fully on-site
      • Salary: $60,000-$70,000
      • Type: Full time permanent + perks (3 weeks of vacation, with increases after 2 and 5 years of service, employer-paid benefits, a pension plan, monthly incentives, team social events)

      Position Overview

      We’re looking for a full-time Legal Claims Consultant to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing all employment-related legal claims efficiently, consistently, and within required timelines. These claims may include, but are not limited to, matters involving the Ministry of Labour (MoL), Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO), Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB), and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).

      Key Responsibilities

      • Manage a portfolio of legal claim files handled internally, including providing legal advice, drafting documentation, and representing clients before the relevant tribunals and agencies.
      • Oversee the intake and assessment of new legal claims submitted by clients.
      • Communicate with clients to collect all necessary details to ensure each claim is addressed appropriately and strategically.
      • Offer guidance and support to the HR Advice Team on legal matters as they arise.
      • Collaborate with external legal partners to ensure claims managed externally (such as demand letters or civil litigation) are handled effectively and in alignment with company standards.
      • Liaise with Ministry of Labour officers, government representatives, and opposing counsel throughout the claim process.
      • Track and monitor the progress of all ongoing claims within the company’s internal systems.
      • Ensure external legal partners adhere to company reporting protocols and budgeting requirements.
      • Perform additional related duties and special projects as required.

      Qualifications

      • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Legal Claims Officer, Legal Consultant, or Paralegal.
      • Post-secondary education in Law or a related field.
      • Valid P1 License (mandatory).
