The Portfolio Group are proud to be working with a well-established professional services firm to recruit an experienced Employment Tax Manager. This is a key role supporting the delivery of both compliance and advisory work across a diverse client portfolio, with a strong focus on UK employment tax issues.
The position offers an excellent opportunity for a proactive and commercially minded tax professional who is keen to take ownership, gain early responsibility and play a visible role within a developing team. You will be involved in high-profile and technically challenging work, collaborating closely with senior leaders and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.
The Role
- Managing the delivery of UK employment tax compliance services for a varied client base, including PAYE reviews, benefits reporting (P11Ds and PAYE Settlement Agreements) and CIS-related compliance.
- Overseeing employment-related securities compliance processes.
- Preparing clear, practical advisory advice on employment tax matters such as employment status, IR35/off-payroll working, termination payments, benefits-in-kind and share-based arrangements.
- Supporting senior stakeholders with complex advisory projects, identifying risks and opportunities and delivering pragmatic solutions.
- Keeping up to date with legislative changes and HMRC guidance, and sharing relevant insights with clients and colleagues.
- Attending client meetings, contributing to presentations and supporting training initiatives.
- Assisting with business development activity, including proposals, networking and identifying opportunities within existing client relationships.
- Coaching and supporting junior team members, helping to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Ensuring work is delivered accurately, efficiently and in line with regulatory standards and deadlines.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in employment taxes.
- ATT qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience dealing with HMRC.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence using Excel to analyse and manipulate data.
- Well organised, motivated and able to take ownership of work.
- A collaborative team player with a proactive mindset.
