Payroll Assistant | Competitive | Full-time | Permanent | London
A leading educational foundation is seeking an experienced Payroll assistant to join its established HR & Payroll function. This is a key role supporting the payroll team in delivery of accurate, compliant, and high‑quality payroll services across multiple payrolls, while assisting the Payroll Manager and working across 2 monthly payrolls with 1000 staff.

The Role
You will play a central part in ensuring the smooth running of monthly payrolls and benefits administration across the organisation. Working alongside the Payroll Manager, you be involved in processing multi-sited payrolls, while supporting wider payroll operations and statutory reporting.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Supporting multiple Foundation payrolls, working closely with the Payroll Manager.
- Responding to payroll and pension queries, providing clear guidance to employees and managers.
- Supporting statutory submissions, including gender pay gap and ONS reporting.
- Working in partnership with HR, ensuring data accuracy and seamless integration between HR and payroll systems.
About You
You will have at least 2-3 years’ experience in Payroll Administration and possess strong technical knowledge within payroll, excellent excel skills, confidence processing manual calculations and excellent attention to detail.
Essential experience:
- Very confident and technically proficient with Excel, Manual calculations, and reporting tools.
- Proven strong experience in manual payroll data entry
- Ability to manage deadlines, solve problems and communicate effectively across teams.
Desirable experience:
- Exposure to salary sacrifice pension schemes.
- Experience within multi‑payroll or multi‑entity environments.
- Familiarity with systems such as Oasis, iTrent, or Business Objects.
