Payroll Specialist
About the Position
Our client is a growing professional services firm seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Payroll Specialist to join their team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the full payroll process for a diverse client base, ensuring payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with applicable legislation. You will manage payroll cycles, maintain payroll system data, support client inquiries, and assist with year-end reporting.

Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll cycles for a diverse client portfolio with varying levels of complexity
- Ensure payroll schedules and client-specific deadlines are tracked and met
- Update payroll system information, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, benefits enrollments, and other employee changes
- Respond to client requests professionally and efficiently
- Manage payroll-related follow-ups, including leaves, vacation banks, personal days, and wage garnishments
- Prepare and issue Records of Employment
- Produce periodic payroll reports as required
- Support full year-end payroll processing, including tax slips, summaries, and annual reporting
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Perform other related payroll and administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
- DEC in Accounting or equivalent education/training
- 3-5 years of relevant payroll experience in a similar role
- Working toward Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification through the National Payroll Institute, or intention to obtain it in the near future
- Experience with payroll systems such as Desjardins, Nethris, or similar platforms
- Strong Microsoft 365 skills, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Solid understanding of payroll compliance requirements
- Ability to work accurately, efficiently, and independently in a changing environment
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and customer-service orientation
Language Requirements
- Strong spoken and written French is required
- English proficiency is required to support clients and partners across Canada and internationally
Compensation & Benefits
- 75,000 – 90,000
