      About the Role
      We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our growing payroll team within a large, fast-paced construction environment. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role is responsible for accurate and timely processing of multi-provincial payroll for a diverse workforce, including unionized employees. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and thrives in a high-volume setting.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Process full-cycle, multi-provincial payroll for hourly and salaried employees across various sites and business units.

      • Ensure compliance with provincial employment standards, collective agreements, and company policies.

      • Validate timesheets, job codes, premiums, and allowances in alignment with union rules and project requirements.

      • Prepare and reconcile ROEs, T4s, year-end reporting, and payroll remittances.

      • Support payroll audits, reporting, and data validations to ensure accuracy and completeness.

      • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies; respond to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

      • Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, Operations, and site administrators to ensure seamless payroll workflow.

      • Participate in system updates, testing, and process improvement initiatives.

      • Maintain confidential employee information in compliance with privacy and security standards.

      Qualifications

      • 3+ years of payroll experience, ideally in construction or another high-volume, complex environment.

      • Experience processing union payroll is a strong asset.

      • Multi-provincial payroll experience required.

      • PCP certification (completed or in progress) preferred.

      • Proficiency with any major payroll/HRIS system (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, Dayforce, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.).

      • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, and collective agreements.

      • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.

      • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and manage competing priorities.

      • Intermediate Excel skills.
