      Job Title: Payroll Analyst
      Location: Markham, ON (Fully Onsite)

      About the Role:
      We are seeking a Payroll Analyst to join our finance/HR team on a full‑time, onsite basis at our Markham office. The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining compliance with Canadian legislation, executing payroll reconciliations and audits, and partnering closely with HR and Finance teams. This role ensures that all employees are paid correctly and on schedule, while supporting payroll‑related reporting, accounting, and year‑end processes.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Process full‑cycle payroll for all employees, including salaries, hourly wages, overtime, bonuses, retroactive pay, vacation pay, leaves of absence, reimbursements, benefit deductions, and any special payroll runs (e.g. off‑cycle payments).Calculate and apply tax withholdings, statutory deductions, union dues or pension contributions (if applicable), benefit premiums, and other payroll‑related adjustments.

      • Maintain and update employee records (new hires, terminations, salary/compensation changes, leaves, etc.) within payroll/HRIS systems; ensure data integrity and confidentiality.

      • Reconcile payroll data with general ledger entries, benefits vendor remittances, and other financial records; prepare and post payroll journal entries as needed.

      • Perform periodic audits of payroll outputs – verifying accuracy, identifying discrepancies or exceptions, and applying corrections before final payroll runs.

      • Support year‑end processes: prepare T4s / RL‑1s (or equivalent tax slips), summary reports, reconciliations, and liaise with external providers or government agencies as needed.

      • Assist with implementation, testing, or upgrades of payroll or HRIS systems; contribute to process improvements, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal control enhancements.

      • Respond to payroll‑related inquiries from employees, management, or external partners; act as a resource for payroll compliance, policies, and procedures.

      Qualifications:

      • 2-5 years of payroll experience in a Canadian corporate environment (multi‑provincial payroll experience considered an asset).

      • Thorough knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory deductions (tax, CPP, EI, etc.), reporting requirements, and compliance standards.

      • Experience with payroll or HRIS software (e.g. ADP, SAP Payroll, Workday, or similar systems).

      • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications; ability to analyze data, prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and create payroll reports.

      • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll and employee data.

      • Good communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with HR, Finance, and other departments.

      • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, especially during peak periods (e.g. pay runs, year‑end, audits).
