Reporting directly to the directors, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of monthly client payrolls.
Responsibilities and requirements
The role You’ll handle end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients with different frequencies and requirements. Key responsibilities include:
- Processing monthly and varying-frequency payrolls (high volume across a shared team portfolio of 400 clients)
- Managing starters, leavers, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP) and coding notices
- Running auto-enrolment, pension submissions and contributions across multiple providers
- Completing RTI submissions (FPS, EPS, EXB) and year-end procedures including P11D/P11D(b)
- Creating data templates, payroll schedules, reports and payment files
- Handling client queries, service reviews and onboarding new clients
- Reconciling funds, managing HMRC portal credits/debts and making corrections where needed
- Helping improve systems and procedures as legislation changes
Desirable skills and attributes:
- Bureau experience
- Proven ability to process high-volume, multi-client payrolls and hit the ground running
- Strong knowledge of pensions, auto-enrolment, statutory payments and year-end
- Excellent Excel skills and a keen eye for detail
- Confidence answering complex client queries and taking initiative
- Experience with IRIS desirable; BrightPay Cloud or similar bureau software highly valued
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
