Payroll Specialist
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 1-2 days onsite)
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with strong UKG experience to join a growing payroll team. This role is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a high level of service to employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle, multi-provincial payroll (bi-weekly or semi-monthly) for a large employee population
- Maintain and update employee payroll records in UKG
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation
- Handle payroll adjustments including bonuses, commissions, retro pay, and terminations
- Prepare and process ROEs, year-end activities (T4s, RL-1s if applicable), and statutory remittances
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide exceptional support
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on payroll-related matters and system updates
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll experience in a high-volume environment
- Strong hands-on experience with UKG (Workforce Now / Pro preferred)
- Solid understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience processing multi-provincial payroll
- PCP designation (or in progress) is considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Nice to Have
- Experience in unionized environments
- Exposure to payroll implementations or system upgrades
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.)
