Payroll Administrator / Bookkeeper
Position Summary
A well-established and award-winning public accounting firm near Kitchener, Ontario is seeking a Payroll Administrator / Bookkeeper to join its growing team.
Reporting within the Bookkeeping Services team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing payroll and bookkeeping services to a diverse client portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with clients while managing payroll processing, remittances, government filings, and bookkeeping functions in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process payrolls for multiple client accounts, ensuring accuracy and legislative compliance.
- Prepare and submit payroll remittances.
- Process Records of Employment (ROEs).
- Prepare and assist with year-end payroll reporting, including T4 preparation.
- Maintain payroll records and employee information.
- Investigate and resolve payroll-related discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll legislation and reporting requirements.
Client Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Provide full-cycle bookkeeping services for a portfolio of clients.
- Complete HST returns and related government filings.
- Maintain financial records and reconciliations.
- Assist clients with day-to-day bookkeeping inquiries.
- Prepare supporting documentation and reports as required.
Client Relations
- Communicate directly with clients regarding payroll and bookkeeping matters.
- Deliver exceptional client service while meeting established deadlines.
- Build strong working relationships with internal team members and clients.
- Support colleagues and contribute to overall team success.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of payroll and/or bookkeeping experience.
- Experience processing Canadian payroll.
- Knowledge of payroll remittances, ROEs, T4s, and related payroll legislation.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation considered an asset.
- Bookkeeping certification considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.
