      Senior Manager, Total Compensation & Payroll
      Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
      Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

      About the Role
      The Senior Manager, Total Compensation & Payroll is a strategic leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and managing all aspects of compensation and payroll programs across Canada. This includes developing a competitive and equitable compensation framework, overseeing annual compensation cycles, and leading payroll operations to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency.

      Reporting to the Senior Director, Total Rewards and Systems, this role leads a team of four professionals and works closely with HR, Finance, and senior leadership to align programs with organizational objectives and values.


      Key Responsibilities

      Compensation
      * Lead the design, delivery, and governance of total compensation programs, including base salary, incentives, and long-term awards.
      * Oversee the annual compensation review cycle (merit, bonuses, and profit-sharing programs) to ensure timely and accurate execution.
      * Conduct market benchmarking and pay equity analyses to maintain competitive and compliant pay structures.
      * Lead the job evaluation process using recognized methodologies to ensure internal equity and consistency.
      * Partner with HR Business Partners and senior leaders to provide analytical and consultative support on compensation-related initiatives.

      Payroll
      * Oversee end-to-end Canadian payroll processing, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely delivery.
      * Ensure adherence to all federal and provincial legislation and reporting requirements (e.g., CRA, T4s, ROEs).
      * Continuously improve payroll processes and systems, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency.
      * Act as an escalation point for complex payroll inquiries and ensure prompt resolution.
      * Lead and develop a team of payroll professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, and service excellence.

      Analytics & Reporting
      * Develop and maintain compensation and payroll analytics to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
      * Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual people metrics reports for senior leadership.


      Qualifications & Experience
      * Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
      * 8-10 years of progressive experience in compensation and payroll, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership capacity.
      * Professional designations such as CHRP, CCP, or CPA are considered assets.
      * Strong knowledge of job evaluation methodologies, market benchmarking, and compensation modeling.
      * Proven experience leading full-cycle Canadian payroll operations across multiple jurisdictions.
      * Advanced proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel) or Google Workspace equivalents.
      * Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts clearly.
      * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver under pressure, and maintain confidentiality.
