Our client is a leading manufacturer with operations across Canada, known for delivering high-quality products and maintaining strong partnerships with both employees and unions. We’re looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join the HR and Finance team in a fully remote capacity.
About the Role
As the Payroll Specialist, you’ll be responsible for administering full-cycle, multi-provincial payrolls for both unionized and non-unionized employees. You will ensure timely, accurate payroll processing, compliance with legislation and collective agreements, and support ongoing payroll-related projects within Dayforce.
Key Responsibilities
* Process biweekly and/or semi-monthly payroll for unionized and non-unionized staff using Ceridian Dayforce.
* Interpret and apply collective agreement provisions related to pay, premiums, and deductions.
* Ensure compliance with employment standards, tax legislation, and company policies.
* Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, ROEs, remittances, and year-end filings (T4s, RL-1s).
* Respond to employee and management payroll inquiries promptly and professionally.
* Support audits, process improvements, and payroll system enhancements in Dayforce.
Qualifications
* 3-5 years of hands-on Canadian payroll experience, preferably within the manufacturing or industrial sector.
* Proven experience processing union payrolls and working with collective agreements.
* Proficiency in Ceridian Dayforce (required).
* Strong understanding of payroll compliance, remittances, and year-end reporting.
* PCP certification (or working toward it) is considered an asset.
* Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and analytical skills.
