About the Role
We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join a growing payroll team and support end-to-end payroll operations across Canada and the US. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for hourly, salaried, commission, and bonus-based employees, while also contributing to payroll system enhancements and process improvements.
This role is heavily involved in payroll transformation initiatives, particularly around SAP and will support testing, validation, and continuous improvement efforts during and after implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support payroll processing for Canadian and US employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple pay groups
- Process and reconcile payroll elements including hourly and salaried earnings, commissions, bonuses, garnishments, benefits, and statutory deductions
- Maintain payroll controls and ensure compliance with applicable federal, provincial, state, and company policies
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, reconciliations, statutory reporting, and audit support
- Monitor payroll data quality and integrations across payroll, HR, timekeeping, and benefits systems
- Investigate discrepancies, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate resolutions with internal stakeholders
- Create and maintain payroll procedures, process documentation, checklists, and work instructions
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual processes, and enhance payroll reporting capabilities
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
- Payroll certification such as PCP, CPM, FPC, or CPP is considered an asset
- 3-5+ years of payroll experience within a mid-sized or large organization
- Experience supporting both Canadian and US payroll is strongly preferred
- Prior involvement in a payroll system implementation or upgrade is highly desirable
Skills and Experience
- Hands-on experience with enterprise payroll systems, including SAP ECP/ECT
- Strong understanding of Canadian and US payroll legislation, taxation, deductions, benefits, and year-end processes
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with the ability to troubleshoot payroll issues effectively
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a multi-jurisdiction payroll environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with payroll, HR, finance, and IT teams
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll reporting
- Bilingual French/English is strongly preferred

- Reports to senior leadership within Finance and Administration
- Works closely with payroll, HR, and IT teams across Canada and the US
Compensation and Benefits
This opportunity offers a competitive compensation package along with a strong benefits program.
Salary: 80,000 – 95,000
