Portfolio Payroll is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team and support payroll operations within a fast-paced construction company. If you have solid payroll and benefits experience and are comfortable working in a dynamic, field-based environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll accurately and on time for hourly, salaried, and union/non-union construction staff across various job sites
- Manage payroll data entry, timecard collection, track overtime, bonuses, and travel allowances
- Administer employee benefits programs
- Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll laws, labor regulations, and union agreements specific to the construction industry
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to resolve payroll and benefits-related queries and discrepancies
- Maintain and update payroll and benefits records, preparing reports for management, audits, and certified payroll requirements
- Assist with payroll and benefits audits and contribute to improvements in systems and procedures
Qualifications:
- 2 to 5 years of payroll and/or benefits administration experience, preferably in construction or a related industry
- Experience with payroll software such as Ceridian Dayforce or UKG Payroll
- Knowledge of U.S. payroll and benefits regulations, including prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Comfortable in a hybrid role (4 days in the office)
