We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to lead our client’s payroll function and ensure regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, compliance management, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of taking full ownership of the payroll function, allowing senior management to focus on their core responsibilities. Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the payroll department, providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff
- Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations
- Review and verify payroll data inputted by junior staff for accuracy and completeness
- Handle high-level payroll compliance issues and regulatory matters
- Manage filings, vacation tracking, and benefits administration
- Liaise with payroll providers (Payworks in Canada and Paychex in US) to ensure smooth operations
- Conduct internal audits of payroll processes and implement improvements as needed
- Prepare and analyze payroll reports for management
- Resolve complex payroll issues and discrepancies
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in payroll processing and compliance management
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll laws and regulations
- Experience with US payroll regulations is an asset
- Proficiency in payroll software systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
