Job Summary: Payroll Manager
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and ensure the accuracy of bi-weekly payroll processing for employees across Canada and the US. This role includes managing payroll-related reporting, compliance with multi-jurisdictional laws, and maintaining accurate records. The successful candidate will also lead payroll system management, support audits, and mentor a payroll team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage bi-weekly payroll processing and related reporting for Canadian and US employees.
Prepare and review payroll filings and compliance reports (e.g., T4s, W2s, EHT).
Perform journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly payroll reporting.
Ensure payroll compliance with relevant legislation across multiple jurisdictions.
Monitor legislative changes and recommend compliance strategies.
Improve payroll workflows, documentation, and internal controls.
Collaborate with Finance and HR on payroll policies and processes.
Handle payroll system setup and maintenance (Dayforce ideal).
Provide mentorship for 1 direct report and resolve payroll escalations.
Support audits, ad-hoc projects, and payroll account registrations in new jurisdictions.
Qualifications:
(PCP) designation or (PLP) an asset.
5+ years payroll management experience, with strong knowledge of Canadian and US payroll legislation.
